New Year Resolutions for Your Kids

This year has been difficult for everyone, parents and children alike, since we have all experienced significant life changes. As we all know, the year is coming to and end, and we wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year.

You can also help your children create their resolutions to set the course for the new year.

Here are some suggestions for your children:

Preschool age:

  • I will tidy up my room

  • I will brush my teeth twice a day

  • I will clean up after playing with my friends

  • I will put dirty clothes in the basket

  • I will place my shoes in their places

  • I will listen to mom and dad

  • I will try not to through a tantrum

School age kids:

  • I will listen to mom and dad

  • I will tidy up my room

  • I will eat more vegetables and drink more milk

  • I will wear my seat belt

  • I will get involved in an activity

  • I will limit my time on electronics

  • I will help my mom in cleaning the house

  • I will get into bed on time

Teenagers:

  • I 'm committing to ..... (Ex: a community activity)

  • It's important for me to .... (Ex: limit my screen time)

  • A habit I want to start .... (Ex: seek advice from my parents whenever I am stressed out)

  • A habit I will try to break.... (Ex: resist peer pressure)

  • I will help in .... (Ex: around the house)

  • It's important for me to ... (Ex: show respect towards my parents, my family and my community)

Resolutions are a great parenting method for teaching your children how to set and achieve goals. It doesn't matter how little the aim is; what matters is whether or not they can achieve it. Make it realistic!

Encourage and support your children in making New Year's resolutions.
