Our grandmothers used to prepare wheat for St. Barbara’s day: a very old tradition to share with our kids on that special night.
What you need:
2 cups of wheat
Water
Raisins
Pine seeds
½ cup of sugar
Walnut
¼ cup rose water
Put the wheat in a large pan and cover it with water.
Let it boil until well done. To cook it quickly you can use the pressure cooker for 15mn.
Let it cool then add rose water and sugar. Mix until sugar is dissolved.
Put it in small bowls and sprinkle raisins, pine seeds and walnut on the top.
Sometimes you might add sugar to the small bowl to make them sweeter.
Happy St. Barbara’s day!
