Yankee Doodle went to town
a riding on a pony,
Stuck a feather in his cap,
and called it macaroni,
Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle dandy,
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.
Fath’r and I went down to camp
along with Captain Goodin,
There we saw the men and boys,
as thick as hasty puddin’,
There was Captain Washington
upon a slapping stallion,
Giving orders to his men,
I guess there were a million,
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.
